If you’re new to Plasencia and wondering just which one you’d like to try, look no further than the medium bodied Cosecha 146. While it took some time to get traction within the industry, when it garnered a 93 rating and was listed as a top 25 cigar of the year, we all knew it was well deserved. Cigar Aficionado magazine said it better than any of us could.
“Unlike wine, cigar smokers aren’t often treated to vintage-specific blends. Region or farm specific? Occasionally. But the Plasencia gave us the Cosecha 146, a brand that is purported to contain tobacco only from the 2011-2012 crops. All of the tobaccos in Cosecha 146 are from Criollo ’98 seeds. The wrapper comes from the Jamastran Valley in Honduras, the binder from Estelí, Nicaragua. The fillers are from Nicaragua (Condega) and Honduras (Olancho and Jamastran). By the Placencia calculations, they gave us the best of a banner vintage from two countries. Judging by La Vega’s tasty balance of tea, citrus, earth and caramel, we have no reason to doubt them.”
