In 1865 Don Eduardo Plasencia left the Canary Islands in search of success and opportunity and started growing tobacco in Abajo, Cuba. In 1963 the family fled to Mexico and later relocated to Nicaragua. In the late 70’s their farms were burned down do to political turmoil and they moved to Honduras. When Nestor Plasencia entered the business in 1986 he began producing over one million cigars a year for other companies. In 1990 while retaining their Honduran farms the family returned to Nicaragua to revive the land and raised their production to over 33 million cigars a year for over 30 different companies. By 2015 they employed over 6000 people in 4 factories and 8 plantations producing over 40 million cigars a year. Finally, in 2017 the family launched their own signature line.
